Local Company Gains Momentum with Innovative Frozen

Future
Product Development to Occur at Cornell’s
Technology Farm
GENEVA, NY
– Cole & Parks has entered
the $21 billion U.S. frozen dessert market with
a unique consumer food product. The specialty
food and gift company developed and launched a
new frozen, ready-to-eat treat called Dough NuggsTM.
Manufacturing and further product development
will take place at the Cornell Agriculture &
Food Technology Park in Geneva, NY.
Cole & Parks
Dough NuggsTM are frozen, bite-sized nuggets of
fresh cookie dough made without eggs. Cole &
Parks has applied for a patent for Dough NuggsTM,
the first egg-free cookie dough product on the
market. Currently sold at foodservice outlets
such as Cole & Parks; all Tom Wahl’s
restaurant locations; and Lasca’s Restaurant
in Auburn; Dough NuggsTM will soon be available
in grocery stores.
“Consumers
view cookie dough as a very desirable treat --
to eat either raw or mixed into ice cream,”
says Cole & Parks CEO and founder Donna Reeves-Collins.
“However many people have doubts about eating
a product made with raw eggs. We developed and
tested a high-quality egg-free product with a
genuine cookie dough taste. Consumer response
indicates that Dough Nuggs appeal to children
and adults alike, all looking to satisfy that
cookie dough craving. Now, with our move to Cornell’s
technology park and our new grocery store packaging,
we’re making it more available to consumers.”
Market trials of
the egg-free Dough NuggsTM began in July, 2006.
According to Tom Wahl’s regional manager,
Keith Herman, Dough NuggsTM sales have gone “gang
busters.”
“The product
has proven to be a huge draw to customers,”
explains Herman. “It is unique and surprisingly
appeals to all ages. We see moms saying ‘yes’
when their kids want to eat cookie dough. Parents
very much like the fact that it doesn’t
contain egg.”
Cole & Parks
also manufactures ready-to-bake Cole & Parks
Dough Eggs® and the company’s individually
wrapped cookies. These products, along with Dough
NuggsTM, target restaurants, retailers, concessions,
and stadiums and will be manufactured and scaled
for national distribution at Cornell’s incubator
facility in Geneva, NY.
